Bridge Corps

What is a Bridge Corps member?

A Bridge Corps member is a qualified professional with relevant experience who is dedicated to the student chapter and enthusiastic about the Engineers in Action (EIA) mission. Their role involves supporting NDSEED both on campus and in country. Support consists of providing technical assistance, checking calculations, reviewing final bridge layout and design, assisting in report writing, participating in review calls, supervising bridge construction, etc.

What are a Bridge Corps member's responsibilities?

The responsibilities of a Bridge Corps members are design support, safety oversight and team supervision for as much of implementation trip as possible. Minimum required supervision is during critical construction phase (tower completion through decking completion), and finally Quality Control sign-offs (as approved by EIA.)

What is expected of them?

These responsibilities can be split between multiple Bridge Corps members. During construction, the Bridge Corps member is not expected to act as a lead on site, but rather to be an educated and knowledgeable third party capable of monitoring daily activities to ensure safety and compliance with the design. EIA requires that a Bridge Corps member is present on site with the student chapter for the entirety of the critical construction phase (tower completion through decking completion) at a minimum, but strongly encourages Bridge Corps supervision at all times while the team is on site.
